REALTORS
KAREI welcomes the opportunity to aid you in the real estate inspection process. Most homebuyers are aware of the need for a home inspection; however, few know what credentials a home inspector should have. Registration is now required for all inspectors in Kansas, however, its initial implementation was delayed and requirements for registration changed from the original bill passed in 2008. Therefore, some have been confused about who or when they were required to register, and what is needed to be qualified to perform home inspections in Kansas. Answers to all questions regarding registration and requirements for home inspectors can be found at the Official Kansas Home Inspector registration site (Click Here).
To find one of our many qualified members simply put in the zip code on our “find an inspector” page and it will automatically search for members in the radius area you select (20 miles by default). Once the list pops up, click on “view” next to their name and a new window will open with a complete list of the inspector’s qualifications and credentials.
Using a non-registered inspector is a recipe for disaster and could put a Realtor at odds with their state organization and or insurance carrier. Enabling unqualified (non-registered) inspectors by providing contact information to homebuyers may leave a buyer with a serious non-disclosed defect, and create a potential financial liability for the agent, in addition to the potential loss of a good client and future buyer referrals.
If you are new to the real estate industry you may want help explaining the inspection process to your client. KAREI can assist by answering any questions and explaining the scope and limitations of the inspection. Feel free to contact our office by phone or via email. Also, we can provide you with a list of our members in your area, and in some cases an office presentation at your location.
Please take advantage of the Resources page, as it contains links to websites discussing EIFS, radon gas, mold, lead-based paint, aluminum wiring, Federal Pacific Electrical panels, Polybutylene Piping, and more. It is designed to be your single stop for information relating to the real estate inspection industry.
